BRANDEN S. VILOS
ATTORNEY AT LAW, P.C.
Born and raised in the Big Horn Basin, Mr. Vilos can appreciate the legal issues common to northern Wyomingites. Prior to opening his own firm in Cody, Mr. Vilos held various positions including Deputy County & Prosecuting Attorney in Park County, Wyoming and the Deputy Big Horn County Attorney, Big Horn County, Wyoming. Mr. Vilos also practiced law through-out the Big Horn Basin with a general practice firm in Thermopolis, a firm focused on litigation. Prior to this Mr. Vilos worked for a law firm largely devoted to commercial and business litigation out of Cheyenne, Wyoming.
In these capacities, Mr. Vilos has represented county and municipal governments and its elected officials, business entities and private individuals on various issues ranging from ad valorem tax issues, contract disputes, property or land disputes and planning and zoning matters. He also spent time prosecuting criminal cases as Deputy Park County Attorney and prosecuting criminal cases in municipal court for the Town of Thermopolis.
In addition to this, Mr. Vilos took great pride in the fact that Governor Meade and subsequently, Governor Gordon appointed him as a Senior Assistant Public Defender on a contract basis for the Wyoming State Public Defender's Office, which he served indigent clients in that capacity for many years. This opportunity largely provides the experience that is credited for the majority of his practice, criminal defense.
Prior to devoting his full-time energy to the practice of law, Mr. Vilos was employed as a Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technical Advisor; advising conventional weapons destruction programs in various countries, including: Iraq, Bulgaria, Sierra Leone, Libya and the Republic of Congo. This experience came as a direct result of the training he received while serving in the United States Army as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal specialist until his Honorable Discharge.
Out of the office you’ll likely find Mr. Vilos enjoying time with family or friends, hopefully somewhere in the mountains.
